New-borns (0 – 3 months old)

The professionals advises that babies sleep for between 14 and 17 hours each day. This sleep is typically divided into a series of shorter periods since the animal needs to be fed.

It’s uncommon for babies to sleep through the night without waking up, even though most of the total sleep takes place at night. Parents frequently attempt to create a basic routine for a new-born’s day to manage feeding, nightly sleep intervals, and daytime naps.

Infants (4 – 11 months old)

Infants are encouraged to sleep between 12 and 15 hours every day. It is normal for infants to sleep for 3-4 hours during the day.

How can I get my baby sleep longer at night?

  1. Establish a regular bedtime routine: make sure your baby gets physical activity during the day and give them plenty of time to wind down before bed
  2. Keep the room cool: make sure the temperature of the room is comfortable for your baby.
  3. Provide soothing sounds: try white noise or nature sounds to help your baby relax and sleep longer.
  4. Avoid stimulation at bedtime: Try to keep the bedroom quiet and dimly lit. If your baby wakes in the middle of the night, don’t turn on the lights.
  5. Comfortable sleep environment: make sure your baby’s mattress is comfortable or use a cooling sleep mat & blanket made with breathable materials.
